WELCOME
Thomas Tosh’s café, art gallery, interiors, and gift & book shops are located in two historic buildings in the bustling village of Thornhill, set in the stunning countryside of Dumfries & Galloway. We are conveniently located on the main A76, under five miles from Drumlanrig Castle.
The impressive nineteenth century parish hall building at 19 East Morton Street is the home of Thomas Tosh’s cafe and gallery. There’s good home baking and fine art from local and national artists here.
Thomas Tosh’s interiors, books and toiletries sections are also located in the old parish hall building. It’s a great place to relax or enjoy fine shopping.
Our other location at 55 Drumlanrig Street is next to Thornhill’s historic cross with its statue of Pegasus. Here you’ll find gifts for all and our stationery department. You can also buy tickets for Drumlanrig Castle here.
And the reason for our name? Thomas Tosh was a character created by the writer Joseph Laing Waugh, one of Thornhill's best-known residents. Waugh’s stories contained memorable characters such as Robbie Doo, Betty Grier and Luiffy the grocer who lived in Thornhill and nearby.
